Catalog Rules

The right products and pricing, in every catalog you share

Maintaining a separate file per partner is how pricing mistakes ship. Catalog Rules put the control on the catalog itself: include or exclude products with field-level filters, apply markup and price adjustments over the price role you choose, and deliver MAP, MSRP, and cost as clean price data — then assign each reseller the catalog that carries their terms.

How rules apply

  1. Define rules on the catalog A markup, a field filter, an exclusion list — each rule is built against the catalog and shapes everything that catalog delivers.
  2. Assign the catalog Every reseller assigned the catalog receives its rule-applied result. Different tiers or arrangements get separately configured catalogs.
  3. Every rebuild re-applies it Rules run automatically whenever the catalog rebuilds — imports, price updates, and overrides all come out the other side with rules applied.
  4. Verify what partners see Browse the catalog exactly as its assigned resellers receive it — products, prices, exclusions — before they ever ask.

Why teams use it

MAP that travels with the data

MAP rides in the catalog as a price role, so every partner has the current floor beside their price — and you review calculated prices against it before sharing.

One source to maintain

Retire the per-partner file collection. Every shared catalog is generated from the same clean source, on demand.

Pricing strategy, expressed

Percentage markups, amount adjustments, and price-role selection model how you actually sell — rules run in the order you add them, so you can stack them.

Selective visibility

Exclusive lines and not-for-this-catalog products stay out of the catalogs they don't belong to — no gaps, no placeholders.

Orders inherit the rules

Purchase orders are built at rule-applied prices, so the number a reseller orders at is always the number the catalog delivered.

Onboarding gets fast

Assign a new reseller the right configured catalog and their products, pricing, and restrictions are correct from minute one.

Good to know

Rules run in order

Rules run in the order you add them, so you can stack them — a markup followed by a promotional amount adjustment — and every rebuild applies the same ordered result consistently.

Promotions ride alongside

The promotion calendar announces scheduled price events to resellers with original and sale prices side by side — informational to partners, coordinated with your rules rather than fighting them.

Common questions

What happens when I change a rule?

The catalog rebuilds and every downstream surface — portal views, downloads, feeds, and new purchase orders — reflects the new rule-applied output. Resellers see the current result whenever they visit, with each catalog's latest update date shown in their portal.

Can I test a rule before partners see it?

You can browse the catalog exactly as its assigned resellers receive it, rules applied — so you verify the result directly rather than trusting the configuration.

Does MAP automatically change my calculated prices?

No — MAP is delivered as a price role alongside your calculated prices; the rules engine doesn't compare its results with MAP or adjust them. Review the rule-applied output against your MAP values before sharing, and fix the pricing rule or source data if a calculated price lands below the floor.

Do rules work with per-SKU price overrides?

Yes — overrides adjust the record's price roles, then rules apply on top. The reseller always sees the final, rule-applied number built from your latest data.
